With Reverse, Ellipse Company presents its fifth creation, mixing circus, contemporary dance and hip-hop into an explosive choreography.
“Gathering on a starry night, a group of travellers start a march.
Against the established order. Towards the humanity of tomorrow. A single ensemble of six dancer-acrobats attempts to move against the wind.
Freely inspired by the works of Vandana Shiva and Alain Damasio, Reverse is a choreography dealing with creative disobedience as a social and ecological struggle. Linking poetry to physicality, Reverse moves forward as much as it moves against in a clash of rhymes and rhythms to overturn reactionnary rhetorics and spread rebellious reveries.”

The wind and the movement of the bodies within the power of the wind are truly significant to Axel Loubette and Nina Webert. As well as being dance makers, Axel and Nina used to be paragliders and skydivers.
This original choreographic creation follows the footsteps of Ellipse Company’s previous projects, combining an eco-political commitment with the development of a specific movement research.
At a time when we must all choose between following a self-destructive path or a life-saving path for the humanity, regarded as a larger ecosystem, the artist’s role is vital in rekindling our imagination.

Music plays a central role in this production. Loïs Vacchetta, a songwriter, guitarist and professional singer, collaborates on the project to create an original soundtrack featuring lyrics by Nina Webert and Axel Loubette.
According to our values, we wanted the costume design, entrusted to Julie Yousef, and the scenography, created by Oskar Millon, to be based exclusively on the assembly and reconstruction of recycled garments, fabrics, spots and technical materials.
