Mademoiselle is a project on a highly important question of society nowadays. It is a collaborative creation with the field of new technologies which includes video in live stream filmed by a dancer herself.
We use the video tool in this creation not as a simple reporting element but as an essential actor of the subject. Indeed, it will symbolize the voyeuristic look on the bodies. The image and its media treatment have always been in favour of a gendered stigmatisation and a stereotyped normalisation. We want to denounce this through our creation. We do not want the dance to disappear behind a screen, but we think that the camera must serve the dance. The onboard camera will be carried by a dancer as an extension of her body. |

A mixed team, because sexism and gender bias concern us all.
We dream of a world in which differences (whether gender or other) are celebrated and open to a diversity of choices in our lives and desires. A world in which a person is selected not by its gender but by its desires and skills. The deconstruction of gender stereotypes allows to build this world. The artists in the project therefore adhere to it regardless of their gender. However, we are also aware of the weight of our social constructions, which is why, beyond the roles of each (choreography, interpretation, realization, music, dramaturgy), Mademoiselle will be collective creation. |
